Featured Dance Studio: Eclipse Dance Collective in Westland, Michigan

Located in Westland, Michigan, Eclipse Dance Collective opened its doors in 2021 and provides a safe space for all dancers in its recreational and competitive programs. Recreational Classes

Eclipse Dance Collective provides instruction in creative movement, combination classes, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, acrobatics, and lyrical dance styles. Eclipse’s recreational levels include Tiny Stars (2.5-3 year olds), Shining Stars (ages 4-5), Nebula (ages 6-8), Celestial (9-12 years), and a level for 13 years and up in development. Students in these recreational levels perform in the studio’s annual recital and in local community events.

Competitive Dance Teams

Eclipse Dance Collective offers two competitive dance teams for students who wish to have additional training and performing experience. The Rising Stars competitive team consists of 4-8 year old and provides an introduction the world of competitive dance. Their weekly class schedule consists of Ballet, Jumps/Turns/Leaps Jr., as well as their Jazz and Tap competition classes.

Team Eclipse is for dancers ages 8-18 who wish to expand their technique and artistry. These members take weekly classes in Ballet, Strength and Conditioning, Technique, Stretch, and Jumps/Turns/Leaps. Team Eclipse dancers can compete in the Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Tap, Hip Hop, and Open categories.

The team attends four regional competitions and one nationals competition each year. The entire company also performs a large jazz production number together, allowing the team to grow and learn together! Opportunities for solo and duo routines are available for both teams, and team placements are determined through a yearly audition in August.

A Safe Space for Dancers

Eclipse Dance Collective places a strong emphasis on the mental and physical health of its dancers. The studio is warm, welcoming, and provides a home away from home for students. Students in need of a break or some time to relax and recuperate can rest in the studio’s sensory room.

The highly educated staff stays on top of current dance teaching trends to create multi-faceted, confident artists. Eclipse believes that sharing their passion for creativity, encouraging self-love, and prioritizing dancers’ mental and physical health empowers their students to reach their highest potential.

The Mission of EDC

Eclipse Dance Collective’s mission is to provide a diverse dance curriculum for students of all ages and experience in a safe and comfortable environment. Their classes instill strong technique while encouraging artistic freedom and self-expression. Eclipse’s goal for its students is for them to not only strengthen and expand their knowledge of different styles and dance techniques, but also find their own artistic voice.
